Complete Medical Heel Wedge Healing Shoe, X-Large, 0.94 Pound

This is exactly what I needed for the treatment of an ulcer on my heel

Fits my size 14 wide foot perfectly. Not made for long term, repetitive use tho. It will make a blister in back of ankle. Prob wont affect most ppl. I had to walk 2 miles when my vehicle broke down w it.

This product was selected by my doctor to help my heel . Delivery was prompt. I would not be able to walk without it.

Because of a severe open wound to my heel I need a shoe that did not allow my weight to rest upon the heel. It has been comfortable and the progress hope healing has been slow but steady. My physician credits this walk off boot as being part of the reason for the successful treatment. It is not difficult to put on and learning to walk on the boot was fairly simple and took only a day or two to become accustomed to. The only drawback that I would pulling out is that the fabric is not as thick or sturdy as I would like. I ordered it in late August 2018, and by early January 2019 my toe had already worn a hole in the front of the boot. I am now having to order a replacement. But even given that oh, the price is reasonable and I would recommend the root to anyone needing to protect their heel.

Bought this one, just in case the other cast boot I purchased at the same time didn't work; showed it to surgeon and was told to us the Slimline one instead. So I donated this one to local Mission who may be able to find it a suitable home for someone who may need one like this. I suppose it could have been rated higher, but the surgeon didn't recommend this one vs. the Slimline when I showed him both at the same time. Thought this would be gentler on my heel after surgery and still wearing a cast, but Nope! Wrong choice, but did have the Slimline to use.

This shoe usually is prescribed by a foot doctor or by a vein doctor for a heel wound. It has Velcro-type straps so it's easy to put on and take off. The shoe takes much of the load off the heel of your foot as there is no 'heel' on this shoe. But wearing one of the shoes raises that foot a couple of inches higher than the other-- somewhat like one 'platform' shoe and one regular shoe. You tend to limp a bit. It takes some getting used to, but it does let a heel wound get better.
