The B+W 62 mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8 per cent light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers enhanced protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for enhanced cleaning efficiency. Manufacturer's Description -------------------------- UV Filters are the classic among the protection filters! These filters should actually be called UV-Blocking Filters, as filters do exist for technical applications that pass UV radiation and block all the other wavelengths. Nevertheless, the short term “UV Filter” has become established among photographers. This filter consists of clear, completely colourless glass with the highest possible transparency. The UV filter blocks the invisible ultra violet component of light from the sky, which may cause a blue cast. UV filter are ideal for high altitudes, in the ains, by the sea and in regions with very clean air allowing the pictures to gain brilliance and avoiding any blue casts. Colour rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter ideal for protecting the lens front element against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times – ensuring your expensive lenses are protected, while helping to enhance your photography. The extremely clear Schott glass has a MRC Nano technology multi coating. This new coating is an improved version of the MRC technology used by B+W. The MRC coating is first and foremost a broadband anti-reflection coating, improving image quality. But MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent.The MRC Nano layer has been strengthened to help resist damage to the glass while a hydrophobic coating means that resistance to dirt is increased and filter cleaning is easy . XS-PRO Nano filters feature an extremely thin filter to help reduce the chance of vignetting.Despite the thin construction the has a front thread so further accessories such as additional filters, lens hoods or snap-in lens caps can be fitted. There’s no point in buying an expensive, optically superior lens, only to put a piece of inferior glass over the front of it! B+W filters all feature brass s, designed to fix the high-quality filter glass in position “for life”. The slim is less than half the height of a standard filter ring so can be used with wide angle lenses without any danger of causing a vingette. Brass s won’t bind with your lens thread, or other filters – a major advantage over cheaper filters.
